AntiSystem :: No Good System

I recently / finally  found one good fast reliable web host company: www.stablehost.com

Even if they are 8 hours behind me (02.00 a.m at there place means 10.00 am at my place), the support is great. Nothing to complain on this part.

The resources are realistic 40 GB space / 300 GB of traffic a month at a decent cost (~ 6 USD / a month ). I avoided spending money on those UNLIMITED resources companies, or those 450000 GB of space / 200 TB of traffic monthly.

Speed is great, services are stable and reliable, things that very important for any web site supporting a business.

I always had problems with different scripts to have an overview over my websites.
So I have searched for a solution and I found one:  www.gostats.com

You create an account and log-in. Log-in with that user and add your site.

Select a type of counter you want to use:

I use the Hidden Counter because the purpose is to have an overview on the traffic and not to show others how many have visited my website.

Just put this in the header section of your page you are tracking and that is all. After that just enjoy your stats .

As you can see the service is quite professional and gives you the opportunity to see a vast no of aspects of your trafic.

The service is free, probably they live from Google AdSens and other commercials.

First time I have really needed some web hosting I used some free hosting that was inserting automatically a banner on the top of your page. I was soooo proud when I set up my first site, no mysql, no php, only html and some java applet and some static pages protected with users / passwords inside a txt file parsed by some free to try script.

Those days are long gone and hope they never came back.

After a wile I started to have a good linux server with all needed services inside the RDS network in Brasov. Unfortunately the network connection was always disconnected so there was no way this situation could be accepted. Moved all sites in US (www.datapacket.net), and then in Germany (www.servage.com) but the speed for visitors in Romania was not acceptable. Also at servage.com they had some strange c-panel that was not really useful for what I needed at that time. Finally I got back to Romania but to a hosting company that had some datacenter and good connection to RDS network. The one I have chosen is www.alfahost.ro . In am almost 1 year old at there company and the prices and speed for clients in Romania are the best I could find on the market. The only drawback is the fact that they are constantly adding, configuring stuff on the life server. From this point of view the server from US was far more stable. I am still hoping that finally they will finish with all changes on the live server, because I really didn’t found a better service at this price … and unfortunately price (like the size) does meter. Because I was having some stable sites (stable meaning no more changing to the site structure will be done in a major way) I started to search for some free web hosting good enough for these sites. The average resources for these sites are: ~ 200 MB space, ~ 10 GB of monthly data transfer, one ftp account, a few email addresses (even without SMTP). I have found the www.000webhost.com being a reliable free web host site (I am about 1 month old at them and until now I really like how things are moving). Nice control panel (some custom control panel made for cluster type servers), the round cube interface and phpmyadmin interface are the latest stable versions and look really professional. They are offering 1500 MB space and 100 GB of transfer data, no SMTP and the option to upgrade to a premium service.

The premium service is not expensive but is not on the same servers, it does not have same control panel (premium => C-Panel latest version). Because of this I am not so anxious to switch to premium. I rather send donation than change something I like how it moves for something I have no idea and considering my “great” good luck it will not work as I wish for me.
Now let’s see how good this free web host is in time. Will get back here with impression after some time will pass.

Some time ago I had to buy an aditional web hosting package on an USA server.  I was already using a free DNS hosting from www.editdns.net for a customer. Because I was happy with there services I have looked closer on there web site, so I found that they also run the www.stablehost.com site. What I liked about them is that they offer decent resources (40 GB / 300 GB trafic). Really good support staff (they responded to me at a very early hour for them). The name is really relevant … stable host. I have moved one of my biggest sites from Romania in USA and the difference was not noteable with regards to the transfer rate (and this site was mainly a photo gallery … lots of photos ).

Regarding www.alfahost.ro they had some weeks with allot of problems so I had to find some other host for the romanian clients. For 3 months now they are hosted at www.spatiul.ro on servers inside Simpliq Datacenter, ClujNapoca, Romania. Until now no real issue …  so nice when clients are not calling you for troubles.
